Lead Hygienist- Caring for Kids

Essential Duties and Major
Responsibilities:
Supporting the coordination and expansion of School & Community Based Dental Service program(s).
Works closely with the Caring for Kids Program Manager to provide clinical insight for the purpose of developing school schedules and other administrative tasks for the preventative and restorative teams.
Acts as clinical liaison between CHC and school staff.
Maintains good working relationship with school staff and advocates for team as needed.
Relays all clinical concerns and/or deficiencies to Chief Dental Officer for evaluation and correction.
Travel to & from school/community locations, assisting with transportation of equipment/materials, Provide community education and attend/participate in health fairs & outreach at events.
Continual promotion of CHC services at all Provide training and supervision to volunteers.
Prepare operatory for patient care by cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining equipment, sterilizing and sharpening equipment.
Greet the patient, making them feel at-ease and Take and record medical and dental histories and updated personal information on permission.
Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth supra and sub-gingivally.
Apply fluoride and other decay preventing agents to arrest dental.
Polish and floss teeth Remove excess cement from coronal surfaces of Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health such as brushing, flossing, and other plaque control.
Apply sealant to the surfaces of teeth per diagnosis of Exercise care in the completion of work assignments and request direction when Provide regular communication & documentation regarding program progress to Caring for Kids Program Manager and Chief Dental Officer Implement improvement measures and suggests ways to improve efficiency of operation and working.
Regular meetings with Caring for Kids Program Manager and monthly CHC all staff meetings as required.
Attend all mandatory office and health center.
Works as part of team and works at the Community Health Center as Demonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center mission.
Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required.
Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygiene School Certified in CPR/AED Successful completion of the National and State examination with Certification One (1) similar work, internship or volunteer experience year experience required Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in Valid Driver's License Competencies:
Ability to work within a complex structure regarding program implementation.
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with diverse populations.
Individual departments will develop competencies which will be communicated and maintained through CHC's performance evaluation systemSupervision Exercised:
Functional responsibility for School Based Dental volunteers.
Environmental Working Conditions:
The environment is a normal office environment within various school & community settings of a busy Community Health Center.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to saliva and blood-borne pathogens.
The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation.

Knowledge of proper patient transfer assistance is also required and the ability to lift as much as 50 pounds may be necessary.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand and walk as well as possess the ability to transport & set up portable dental equipment.
