Job Summary At the direction of the Mayor, acts as the administrative chief responsible to administer and enforce the state building code (780CMR) and requirements of the State Architectural Access Board Gi21CMR).
Manage and supervise the Building Department staff.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets.
Provide services to the City to ensure the safety and comfort of the occupants of structures within the City of Fitchburg.
Perform site visits to assure code compliance; examine or approve plans for new buildings, as well as the repair and alteration of existing structures.
Incumbent is appointed by the Mayor and requires confirmation by the City Council.
Position is subject to City Code Section 7, Building Construction Administration.
